Christie Nolan is founder and President of Mission Matters Consulting  & Coaching Group, a firm specializing in improving the performance and impact of nonprofit organizations and those who lead them. Recognized as a leader in nonprofit management and governance, Christie has worked with funders and nonprofits in all sub-sectors. Christie encourages confidence in the potential of nonprofit staff and Board leaders and coaches them from the best position to grow and succeed.

  Christie built a nonprofit capacity building program from infancy to a vital community resource with a service area of over 2000 nonprofit organizations. She works closely with foundations and nonprofits to promote an understanding of strategic capacity building needs and the effective use of nonprofit boards of directors.

  For over 15 years, Christie has worked in the nonprofit sector as a staff member, community foundation vice president, interim executive director, trainer, consultant, and board member. Christie has received recognition for her capacity building work in Florida and D.C. She received the distinctive recognition of being named to the GulfCoast Business Review’s Top 40 under 40 in 2007. In May 2008, Christie was featured on the cover of West Coast Woman, a monthly newspaper covering the gulf coast of Florida, for her contributions in the nonprofit sector. She was named the 2010 Business Volunteer in the Arts by the Cultural Alliance of Greater Washington.

Christie received her Master of Science in Industrial-Organizational Psychology from Valdosta State University. She also holds an undergraduate degree in Psychology from Purdue University. Christie is a devoted lifelong learner and has attended numerous trainings including BoardSource’s Advanced Board Consulting for Practitioners, Board Development and Fundraising and the Coaches Training Institute. In addition, Christie is a professional certified coach and uses coaching as a holistic approach to developing potential within teams and individual leaders. Christie has offices in the Washington, DC area and Sarasota, FL. 

Christie is a yoga student and teacher--RYT-200. Yoga is her spiritual practice as well as her approach to maintaining good mental and physical health and wholeness.  Christie recently earned the Ayurvedic Practitioner certification and brings the health and wellness concepts to her coaching.  In her spare time, she enjoys camping and the outdoors with her husband, Peter and their two dogs, Bodhi and Sukha.
